The school is motivated to start Masters in landscape Architecture (M. LA) & Ph.D very soon. It is important to mention that its the only architecture college in the state of J&K. DA&LD is rich in infrastructure wise as it considers itself one of the best schools of the country in the said domain.

Studio Cum Class Rooms:

05 dedicated Studios with the attached class-rooms are deliberated to each of the 05 running semesters in a year. These studios with class rooms are designed by the in-house faculty members keeping careful consideration of North-light, cross ventilation & viewing angles of the students for the best possible learning conditions. Each studio has 40 drawing boards for the students with separate 40 sitting (desk) capacity in the class-room for lecture purposes. Studio as well as class-room is capable enough to cater chalk-board, projector screen based or one to one teaching-learning & interaction modes.

Computer Lab :

Computer Lab : It is used for teaching Computer related softwares & to keep students updated. Softwares like Auto-cad, Revit-Architecture, Archi-cad and Photoshop are being taught to the students. Presently Computer lab has 40 workstations in a fully Air-conditioned & furnished hall. Internet facility is also installed in the computer Lab for the aid of students as well as faculty/staff members.

Survey & Concrete Lab:

It is used for the students to impart Practical knowledge for survey & concrete & for the purpose, latest machinery & equipments are installed/kept in the Lab. Students get handy practical data to use such materials on site which is very important for an Architect in the field .

Climatology Lab :

Most of the latest gadgets to record & analyse climatic conditions (indoor/outdoor) are installed in the climatology lab. Such data is extremely critical to design buildings in different climatic zones which is very important for an Architect to understand. Accordingly; Knowledge to use & analyse such information is taught to the students by using these gadgets.

Model Making Lab:

Architectural output is conceived properly by virtue of 3D-models. Whereas software’s are available to create virtual 3-D of building on computer screen but the holistic perception of total design is aided by realistic 3D-Model of the building. This very facility is provided in the Model making lab which aid the students to make all such models for their Design presentations & simultaneously preserving them too.

Carpentry & Smithy Workshop:

Carpentry & Smithy Workshop: Architect is a Master craftsman & he is supposed to have the knowledge of all related jobs with building components. Accordingly, carpentry & smithy is one such major component & this knowledge is imparted to the students in carpentry & Smithy Workshop. This knowledge also help the students to come out with 3-D models in a more comprehensive manner.

Audio-Video cum Thesis Hall:

Audio-Video cum Thesis Hall: Modern education is being delivered with latest electronic & multi-media gadgets & architecture is no exception. Audio-video lab for Presentations, special lectures, vivas etc. is set-up in the school of Architecture. Exhibition room is also set up in the same hall for displaying students’ works (Sheets & models) of different subjects particularly design. Thesis exhibition is also conducted in the exhibition room.

Building Material Lab:

Building material lab is also set up in the school. In this lab practical knowledge about different materials like their colour, appearance, use, method to handle, composition etc is imparted to students. This is one of the major constituent of any architectural school.

School Library:

School Library is also being set up in the school which will contain handy literature data in terms of text books, reference books & journals for the convenience of students as well as faculty. It will also help the students & faculty to access the data under the same roof of School of Architecture in a way so as not to access central library time & again so will benefit them in terms of Time too.

Art-Studio/Exhibition Hall:

Art is a major subject of architectural education. A dedicated art studio for show-casing art talent is set up in the school building. Students can use this art room for making & displaying their works of art during class-hours, during college festivals & even during off hours. Art studio also exhibit the permanent exhibition of best works of the SALD students. To facilitate it in a more judicious manner, the office of Art-instructor is placed next to the Art-Studio.

Exhibition cum Jury Spaces/Amphitheatre:

School building is design in a very innovative manner as such the designer understood the requirements of ample display spaces even in the outdoors. Accordingly, all through the walking spaces within the building, different exhibition spaces are set-up in the school building exhibiting distinguished works of Students in terms of art, Design & related subjects. An indoor amphitheatre (stage with stepped seating) is also set up within the School building which is good enough to accommodate whole of the school at the time of any special gathering. This is the most happening point in the school building particularly in the time of School or college level technical or Cultural Festivals. Farewells & fresher’s etc. are also preferred to take place in this amphitheatre. Many a time, it has proven to be a more than useful space for conducting a lecture or demonstration outdoors too.
