Faculty of Management (FOM) at SMVDU is equivalent to the Faculty of Management in traditional universities and has constituent Departments of Study which are equivalent to Departments in a University. The Faculty of Management has the following as it’s constituent Departments:

• School of Business
• School of Economics

These Schools offer 2 Year M.B.A.program, Five Year Integrated BBA + MBA program with exit option, Five Year Integrated MSc Economics, BSc MSc Economics with exit option, BA MA Economics with exit option program besides offering Ph.D. programs. Both the Schools are well equipped with excellent class-rooms, seminar halls, Computer Laboratory, Meeting rooms & School libraries. Experienced faculty members, deeply involved in research are at the core of the Schools and conduct the academic programs. The School of Business offers a variety of fields of specialization including Human Resource Management, Finance, Marketing etc. and the School of Economics offers Principle of Economics, Advanced Financial Economics, Panel Data Econometrics, Rural Economics etc. as specializations This gives the students a wide variety of choice coinciding with their career plans.

Dean's Message

Established by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board through an Act of the J&K Legislative Assembly in 1999, and having started teaching programs in 2004, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University is the one of the fastest growing young Universities of India. It has developed excellent student-centric academic system and facilities in keeping with its fully residential nature. The university is ranked 78th among the Engineering institutions, among Top 100 Management Institutions and among Top 150 Universities in India as per NIRF 2020 of MHRD, GoI.

The University is located in the lap of Trikuta Hills, the abode of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi at about 2700 feet above the sea level. The pyramidal type architecture merges beautifully with the valley like ambience of the surrounding serene hills. The slight incline of the campus provides an ideal place for endurance exercises. The spiritual influence of the Divine Mother and Holy Shrine is palpable on the campus, which helps to add spiritual dimension to the quality of education and life on the campus. Thus, such proximity of the campus with spiritually and culturally rich pilgrimage centre is an idyllic setting for inspiring the students to reflect on our rich traditional and cultural heritage which needs to go hand in hand with keen scientific temper.

The Faculty of Management, having two departments including School of Business and School of Economics, endeavors to provide excellent education to the students through Postgraduate and Integrated Programs besides Ph.D. and Post Doctoral Research Programs so as to create finest professionals and human beings. The academic system, syllabi and evaluation procedure have been adopted from premier institutions and universities including Indian Institute of Technology which promotes vigorous learning and transparent evaluation mechanism. The blending and growing together of assorted academic disciplines has provided the students an added benefit of an exposure to the university life, freedom of thought and expression to innovate. The global outlook and grass-root connectivity provides the faculty members, researchers and students a unique position in the world of academia.

The Faculty of Management in the region has an elite position since it combines several roles and exposes students to the changing needs of the global society. It endeavors to endow with skillful training, a vigorous outlook and a sociable spirit in character to face challenging situations in career and life. Extra-curricular activities add to an overall process of development and skills inculcation among the students. Admitted through a tough competitive process of selection these students learn requisite skills to create knowledge centres and work amicably in a collaborative work environment.

The visits of acknowledged industry groups for campus placements speak of the milestones covered so far and allow the University to strive further for higher goals. Our aim is to create a knowledgeable, loyal and dedicated human resource having zeal to work hard and capacity to overcome difficulties that are capable of providing insightful direction to any organization. As a prospective student of the Faculty of Management, I am confident; one would take pride in being part of this higher educational institution and contribute to its academic, societal and cultural development.

Dear Students, this is the time to take motivation from the life journey of great thinkers of India, who never surrendered to conditions yet dependably buckled down against all the chances. Life is a book and being student is the most excellent section. So enjoy this phase of life with all dedications and inculcate new skills and imbibe new knowledge with open arms and mind. It is certainly not easy to be a descent student, these days as it requires loads of diligent work and devotion. However, continuous, dedicated, persistent efforts in this direction can help the students to realize their dreams in reality.
