Mr. Prateek Sharma and Mr. Vijay Kumar, student of School of Electrical Engineering, published a research paper in 8th IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section International Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (UPCON 2021) 11th-13th November, 2021. The paper titled as “Smart Lighting System Using Arduino”.The paper presents an advance lighting system to minimize the wastage of electrical power and save electricity. For this purpose we are using Arduino, Light Dependent Resistor(LDR) and Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor. Light will be switched on when LDR detects motion. We are using LDR to reduce unnecessary wastage of power during daytime and increase the efficiency of system. This project can also work as a security system. This project can also be used in street light system. This system can turn the lights on and off automatically depending on the traffic flow.

Ms. Suhani Baru, student of School of Electrical Engineering, presents a research paper in Third International Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering (ICAME 2020) at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur, Chennai on 28th February, 2020. She presented her Research paper titled “A Review on Thermoelctric Cooling Technology and Its Applications”, coauthored by Ms. Sonal Bhatia. The paper got published in IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering (Scopus Indexed). The work is focused on thermoelectric cooling technology that helps us to control the devices temperature that increase the lifespan of any equipment. It is highly reliable and low energy consumption Technology based on Peltier effect. This paper presents a compressive review of different thermoelectric cooling Technology and its applications on heat pipe cooling, sensible air coolwarm fan and solar productivity enhancements.

Ms. Samreen J Singh and Ms. Mimansa Sardhalia, student of School of Electrical Engineering, published a research paper in Scopus indexed journal “International Journal of Electrical Engineering and Technology”. The research paper titled as “Optimal allocation provision for EV charging stations in the low voltage distribution system”.

The work is focused on optimal allocation for EV charging stations. The increased use of EVs required a planned charging structure to minimize the disturbances and infrastructure augmentation in distribution system. The work presents the minimum increase in active power loss based optimal allocation of EV charging stations while maintain the prescribed power system constraints including voltage limits.

SMVDU Katra, January 2019: Dr. A Jayalaxmi, Professor, JNTUH College of Engineering, Hyderabad, delivers an expert lecture to B. Tech. Electrical Engineering students at School of Electrical Engineering (SoEE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. In her talk she explained various issues associated with electrical systems and the structure of electrical engineering studies. She also apprised students of various energy generating, energy saving schemes and control system being used at different plants. She also talked about various opportunities in the field of Electrical Engineering.

A poster making competition on ‘COVID 19 Awareness” was organised by IIT Jammu under the flagship of “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan” in which students of UBA Institutions of the Jammu region participated.

Ms Nivedika Kher, a student from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), took part and won the 1st Prize. The student presented a very innovative poster indicating the phycological influences of COVID 19 on young students.Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. R K Sinha, highly appreciated the efforts of Ms. Nivedika Kher. Dr. Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, also congratulated Ms. Nivedika Kher for her achievement and wished her good luck for future endeavours.
