Students of Department of Architecture and Landscape Design have taken an initiative for cleaning the areas near slums in SMVD University on October 02, 2017. NSS at SMVDU joins hand with this cleanliness drive on the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti as well as on completion of three years of Clean India mission with the motto of ‘Swacchata hi Seva”. The objective of this mission was to clean the slums occupied by construction workers, roads leading to these places and nearby areas along with spreading the message of cleanliness, health and hygiene.
It may be noted that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi has called upon the nation to begin a campaign, Swachhata Hi Seva. He called upon people of India to create an environment of cleanliness in the whole country so that the third anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and birth anniversary of the father of nation, can be celebrated in a befitting manner. A pledge to segregate waste in two dustbins along with working for cleanliness throughout the year is undertaken by students.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Debadatta Jena (B. Arch) along with Mr. Ajit Kumar (B. Tech, Mechanical), Mr. Dhanraj Singh (B.Tech Electronics) and Mr. Akhil Kalsi (B.Tech Computer Science) under the supervision of Mr. Sumanta S. Sharma (Faculty Coordinator, NSS). Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Sanjeev Jain has expressed his satisfaction on the conduction of this event and has also appealed to all the members of SMVD University to make cleanliness, health and hygiene – a part of daily life.
