Ms. Shivalika Sharma pursuing her research work at the School of Business, Faculty of Management, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University achieved a milestone by receiving second position at the 3-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition held at the Central University of Jammu. During the competition, the participants had three minutes to present a compelling oration on their thesis work. The goal of 3 MT competitions was to cultivate among the participants the ability to explain their research in both breadth and significance in a language appropriate to both specialists and non-specialists in three minutes. Explaining her research work, Ms. Shivalika Sharma pointed out the taboos associated with menstrual hygiene management. She also focussed towards the negative consequences of mismanagement relating to menstrual hygiene which can lead towards various physical, social and emotional impacts. She also presented some research methodological tools being adopted by her in her research work. The presentation made by Ms. Shivalika demonstrated the in-depth level of knowledge the scholar was having relating to her research which was appreciated by all the evaluators of the panel. Presently Ms. Shivalika is pursuing her research journey under the supervision of Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Head School of Business, SMVD University.

She had been working with the company as a part of the summer internship program of the School of Business for six weeks as a Finance Intern. Dr. Hari Govind Mishra, Dean Student Welfare (DSW) and Head, School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), delivers a talk on the topic, “Knowledge Based Dynamic Capability in Social Purpose (SPO)” in the UGC- Human Resource Development Centre sponsored refresher course organized by Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar (A Central University). Dr Mishra explained the micro foundations of knowledge based dynamic capabilities in social purpose organizations while discussing the cases of Angai Soap, Swara, Lifaffa and Goonj. He also highlighted the important findings of his research article recently published in the Journal of Knowledge Management (ABDC- A Category) co-authored with Mr. Rohit Bhardwaj, Research Scholar, School of Business and others. Dr. Mishra also focused on how case SPOs acquire, create, and combine knowledge to address social opportunities.
Dr. Rashi Taggar, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), conducted a session on ‘Professional Ethics’ for the faculty members of the GGM Science College, Jammu on 24 May, 2022. The faculty members identified the values required as an educator to develop the students and the institution. The requisite ethical standards of credibility, belongingness and respect were discussed to ensure integrity of the employees and the institution.
Dr. Rashi Taggar, Faculty at School of Business, SMVD University, conducted the session in international workshop on innovations in research methodology and quality concerns in pedagogical studies – NEP 2020. Dr. Taggar discussed the different types of triangulation used in research and its application in social sciences. Triangulation ensures the credibility and increased validity of the collected data by decreasing biasness. The workshop was organised by Govt. College of Education, Jammu The faculty members and scholars from the UT, other states and countries participated in this two day workshop
Amol Dhar and Ruchika Koul , MBA Students, SMVD University, bagged the best paper awards in National Conference on ‘Resilience, Reinvention & Rebuilding towards the New Normal’ (R3TN2-2022) organized by GNIOT Institute of Management Studies, Greater Noida. Amol Dhar presented the paper titled ‘A Serendipitous Throuple’. This study was conducted to understand the three-way relationship from the user’s perception of the archetypes and explored how the congruity of personalities works among a brand, its user and other fellow brand user. Ruchika Koul presented the paper titled ‘Influencer Marketing-The Item Girl of Social Media’. Her study discussed the concept of influencer marketing, and explored how influencer marketing impacts people’s buying decision and brand perception. More than 100 papers were presented in the Conference in 7 different tracks. Both the students worked with Dr. Rashi Taggar of School of Business. The students were grateful to the Head, SoB, Dr. HG Mishra and Dean, FoM, Dr. Supran K. Sharma for providing the conducive environment and encouragement to undergo their surveys for the study.
Shahbaz Indu received the best paper award at the 3rd International Conference on Changing Business Paradigm (ICCBP) at Management Development Institute (MDI) Murshidabad, held in January 2023.Shahbaz received the best paper award in the Marketing track with the theme “Reinventing Marketing through Sustainability, Innovation and Analytics”, and he presented the paper titled, "What Determines the Purchase of Superfoods? An Empirical Assessment of Indian Consumer". The inclusion of superfoods in dietary plans has been discussed in the paper. The factors influencing the purchase of superfoods among Indian consumers have also been determined. Researchers from India, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Spain, China, Ghana, USA presented their research work through online and offline modes. The submitted paper has also been accepted for publication in the book by Bloomsbury India. Shahbaz is pursuing his research in School of Business under the guidance of Dr. Rashi Taggar.
Ms Maria Shah, an alumnus of the School of Business, interacted with MBA and BBA students virtually. She is an MBA 2006-08 batch pass out, a certified NLP coach and presently has her own Learning & Development venture.She has coached more than 30,000 professionals and conducted various group and one to one training sessions. While interacting virtually with students, Ms Shah narrated to the budding managers, the role and future of Human Resource Management in the corporate world. With her experience of more than 10 years as a trainer/coach, she highlighted the various career options available in the HR field. The session was motivational to the students explaining various career opportunities available after completing their management degree program, particularly in HR. She educated the students regarding starting their own venture and the challenges they may face in that process. She also enthused the students to keep expanding their portfolio of skills in order to have a competitive advantage in the corporate world. The students attended and participated in the session offline and although some of the interested students also joined online mode. The students demonstrate gratitude towards the School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the speakers for giving them such kinds of opportunities to have better exposure to such thought-provoking sessions.
Tapas Sudan, a researcher, at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been awarded the Centrally Administered Doctoral Fellowship by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Doctoral Fellowship to work on his Ph.D. thesis titled “Mitigation Strategies Adopted to Combat Unprecedented Supply Chain Disruptions: The Case of Indian Manufacturing Industry” under the supervision of Dr Rashi Taggar, Faculty, School of Business, for a period of two years. Twenty-eight students from Jammu and Kashmir were awarded the doctoral fellowship out of 461. Earlier, the candidate has also received funding from the Asian Development Bank (Tokyo) for his research on “Recovering Supply Chain Disruptions in the Post-COVID-19 Pandemic Through Transport Intelligence and Logistics Systems: India’s Experiences and Policy Options”, co-authored with his supervisor. The researcher has published research papers in national and international journals and edited volumes, besides attending and participating in national and international conferences related to supply chain management and other allied management aspects.
Mr. Sourav Mahajan and Mr. Vijay Sharma alumni of School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, interacted with MBA students. Mr. Sourav Mahajan and Mr. Vijay Sharma are working as AGM Assets in Regional Office of IDBI Amritsar Branch and Regional Manager, Jammu IDBI Bank, respectively.
The alumni, graduated from initial MBA graduate batches, provided insights related to various career perspectives available in corporate sector, especially in banking and related sectors.
The budding managers raised various queries related to existing opportunities, and how to excel in the banking sector. The alumni also provided insights regarding how the behaviour of banking employees has changed. The importance and dominance of women in the banking sector was also underlined by them.
They encouraged and inspired the students to focus on expanding their portfolio of skills and be ready to face the challenges of the corporate sector. The students highlighted that such interactions create learning opportunities for them to be prepared for corporate challenges. The session motivated students which paved the way for them to think about a career in the banking field. The School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, always made attempts to arrange interactive sessions with industry and academia that help students to make a career in the field that they have always dreamt of.
Dr. Rashi Taggar, Faculty at School of Business, SMVD University chaired a session in the 20th AIMS International Conference on Management organized by The Association of Indian Management Scholars (AIMS) International and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K), supported by the International Forum of Management Scholars . Around 100 papers were presented on IIM-K campus from 28 to 30 Dec 2022 and more than 100 papers were presented online from 01-02 Jan 2023. Dr. Taggar chaired the online session on COVID-19 on 1st January 2023.The papers presented in this session discussed the impact of COVID-19 on virtual learning, higher education, working women, baking start-ups, social media trends in corona period, FMCG sector, Indian economy, mental well-being and recovery from the virus.
