Kuldeep Kumar Tiwari, Researcher, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has been declared qualified for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics.The candidate has worked on the topic, titled “A Study on the Estimation of Population Mean in Sample Survey” under the supervision of Dr. Sandeep Bhougal, Assistant Professor, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. He has published research work in SCI and Scopus indexed journals and presented papers at various international and national conferences. Dr. Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered a talk at the virtual international conference on “Emerging Trends in Engineering, Science, Management & Commerce” organized by the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Madhyanchal Professional University, Bhopal (M. P.).The conference was organized during 21-22 May 2021.Dr. Singh delivered his talk (online) titled “On Some Concepts in Fuzzy Theory with Applications”.

The talk was mainly focused on the development of metric similarity measures using certain notions of fuzzy theory. The conference was organized in association with the Advance Research Educational Society (ARES), India. A number of faculty members and research scholars across India and abroad participated in this virtual conference.Dr. Singh extended thanks to the organizers for inviting him and showed his gratitude to Prof. A. K. Malik of Advance Research Education Society for providing him with an opportunity to showcase his work.

Ms. Kavita Saini, Researcher, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has been declared qualified for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics. She has worked on the topic, ''A Study of Some Difference Sequence Spaces and Their Dulas'', under the supervision of Dr. Kuldip Raj, Head of Department, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. The candidate has published papers in the SCI-SCOPUS journals and presented papers at international and national conferences. The researcher has expressed her gratitude to her supervisor for guidance and support and SMVD University for providing all facilities for carrying out the research work.

Ms. Anu Choudhary, Research Scholar, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, has been declared qualified for the award of degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) in Mathematics.

She worked on the topic, “Generalized Sequence Spaces and Some Related Properties” under the supervision of Dr. Kuldip Raj, senior Faculty, School of Mathematics, SMVDU.The candidate has published papers in the SCI-SCOPUS journals, and participated in seminars & conferences as the part of her PhD requirement.Ms. Choudhary has shown her respect and gratitude to her parents, Romesh Bharti and Santosh Kumari, R/o Santokh Vihar , Kalu Chak, Jammu for supporting her.

Ms. Ria Gupta has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). The candidate has worked on the topic, titled “A Study of some generalized separation axioms in closure spaces”, under the supervision of Dr. A. K. Das, Associate Professor, School of Mathematics, SMVDU, Katra. Ms. Ria Gupta has published her research findings in SCIE and SCOPUS journals of repute and also presented papers in international and national conferences. Ms. Sonam Sharma, Research Student, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics. Ms. Sonam worked on the topic, “Some Information Measures and Correlation Measures Based on Fuzzy and Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets”, under the supervision of Dr. Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. During her Ph.D., she has published 04 SCIE indexed, 03 Scopus indexed research papers in the International Journals of repute.

Sharma, Department of Mathematics, Central University of Jammu. She has published research papers indexed in SCI/SCIE-ranked journals. Prof. (Dr) R. K. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, faculty member, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, chaired two technical sessions in the 4th International Conference on Mathematical Techniques in Engineering Applications (ICMTEA 2020) from 4-5 December, 2020 at Graphic Era (Deemed to be university)/Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Uttrakhand, India.

In this interdisciplinary conference, the researchers from Japan, Greece, Turkey, India and Poland presented academic papers in two technical sessions which will be published in SCIE, SCOPUS, and ESCI indexed journals through this conference.

The conference witnessed a huge participation across the globe. The eminent speakers like Prof. K.S. Trivedi (Duke University), Prof. P.K. Kapur (Amity University, Delhi), Prof. Tadashi Dohi (Hiroshima University), Prof. O. P. Yadav (North Dakota State University) and others delivered their plenary talks.

Dr. Kumar expressed his gratitude to Prof. Mangey Ram (Convener) for giving him this opportunity.

Mr. Pradeep Singh has been declared qualified for the award of degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, J&K. He has worked on the topic, “On Zero-Divisor Graph of Rings and its Topological Indices”, under the supervision of Dr. V.K. Bhat, Professor, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. His research work has published in reputed SCIE and SCOPUS indexed journals.The candidate thanked the university for granting him NET- fellowship during Ph.D. Prof. R.K. Dr. Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics had been invited as a resource person in the in the online "Refresher course in Mathematics and Statistics" organized by UGC-HRDC, BPS Women University, Khanpur (Sonipat), Haryana. He had delivered lectures in two sessions. The refresher course had been organized from 22th October 2020 to 6th November 2020. Fifty five faculty members from various colleges and Universities across the India participated in the course. Dr. Singh discussed the recent trends in Fuzzy Theory and interdisciplinary importance of fuzzy logic. The participants found the lectures of Dr. Singh very informative and pragmatic. Further, he thanked the Director, UGC-HRDC, BPS Women University and the Course-Coordinator Dr. Sunil Kumar for inviting him as a Resource Person.

Ms. Sehar Shakeel Raina, Research Student, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Mathematics. She has worked on the topic, titled “A Study on Some Relative Topological Properties”, under the supervision of Dr A. K. Das, Faculty, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. Her research work has been published in SCI/SCIE journals.

Dr. Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, delivered a talk in One week online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Recent Advances in Mathematical Sciences & Applications in Engineering” organized by Govt. College Simalwara Dungurpur (Rajasthan).

Dr. Singh delivered his talk (online) “On Some Applications of Non-Standard Fuzzy Sets” on 19th October, 2020. The talk was mainly focused on the applications of the non-standard fuzzy theory in the medical diagnosis and decision-making.

This FDP was organized in association with Advance Research Educational Society (ARES), India. A number of faculty members across India participated in this online FDP.

Mr Abdul Haseeb Ganie, Research Student, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics. Mr Ganie has worked on the topic, titled “Fuzzy and Non-Standard Fuzzy Information Measures and Correlation Measures with their Applications”, under the supervision of Dr Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics, SMVDU. During his PhD, he has published eight (08) SCIE indexed research papers in quality journals.

SMVDU, Katra. Ms. Sumita Lalotra, Research Student, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics.

Ms. Lalotra worked on the topic, “A study of Information Measures and Correlation Measures based on Intuitionistic and Hesitant Fuzzy Sets”, under the supervision of Dr. Surender Singh, Faculty, School of Mathematics, SMVDU.

During her Ph.D., she has published 05 SCIE indexed, 02 Scopus indexed and 01 UGC-CARE listed research papers in the International Journals of repute. She has also published a research paper in the International Journal of Intelligent Systems, an SCIE journal with impact factor 10.31.

Ms. Lalotra extended her thanks to her supervisor Dr. Surender Singh, Dr. Uday Pratap Singh (Head, SoM), all the faculty members and staff of the School of Mathematics and, administrative authorities for their cooperation and guidance in the way of achieving this feat.

Bhavneet Singh Soodan, PhD student, School of Mathematics, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) in Mathematics by SMVDU. He worked on the topic, “A Study on Queues with Correlated Reneging”, under the supervision of Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar.
