Katra, 02 June ‘18. A two-day National Seminar on “Socio-Cultural Impact of Adi Shankaracharya: A Historical Perspective” jointly organized by Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR), New Delhi, and School of Philosophy & Culture (SoPC) from 01 June to 02 June 2018 concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. The Chief Guest of the valedictory function was Shri G.L. Raina, Member, J&KLC who illustrated the importance of Indian philosophy and its lifestyle for sustenance and survival. The Guest of Honour, Shri Ashutosh Bhatnagar, Director, J&KSC, explained the greatness of Shankaracharya both as a social reformer and as a philosopher. Prof. BaidyanathLabh, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Academic Advisor of the Seminar, highlighted the need to examine concepts of Shakaracharya and Indian Philosophy at large from indigenous perspective. Prof. Rajneesh K. Shukla, Member Secretary ICHR explicated the grandness of Shankaracharya with the majestic Indian culture and its splendid civilization. In this seminar, delegates from various parts of the country participated and stressed on the need to embrace and understand the philosophy of AdiShankaracharya from the contemporary perspective. The valedictory session was moderated by Dr. OmjeeUpadhayay, Member, ICHR. The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Member ICHR, New Delhi.
