Stating an example how positive and fruitful interaction between Governors and Vice-Chancellors could produce wonders, President Ram NathKovind onTuesday reminded his recent visit in the month of April to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra at the two-day Conference of Governors here. Incidentally, the President was speaking on how universities with positive energies can achieve academic excellence and encourage their pupils to focus on serious academic research. Further, he said, “Each state university can develop a “Centre for Excellence” in one subject. With this, students can get an institution of eminence to pursue studies in the subject of choice.” Also, the President urged the Governors to convene VC’s meetings regularly so that swift solutions of academic problems and issues can be sorted out fast. Moreover, to improve the effectiveness of such interactions representatives of the state education and finance departments, as well as officials from the HRD Ministry, the UGC and other institutions could be invited. Notably, the President was overwhelmed by the serene and green SMVD University campus, and he was glad to see young enthusiastic students and entrepreneurs goodwill for them. Needless to say, that SMVD University had made an everlasting impression on his mind, and he wanted that other university should follow and make efforts as made by the Jammu-based University.
