SMVDU Katra, 16thJuly, 2018. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University has organized a three-week Students’ Induction Program for its students starting from 16thJuly 2018 to 3rdAugust, 2018. Keeping the maximal utilisation of time in mind, the morning session is dedicated to the regular class work, however, in the afternoon session motivational lectures by the eminent professors (in-house & outside) is to be conducted on significant topics, such as gender sensitivity; how to achieve success in life; interaction with the distinguished alumni; human values; the role of research & technology in growth and development; how to begin a startup; talent hunt; etc. Believing that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body, each day will start with a yoga session at 06.00 AM where the yoga coordinator Dr. Anil Tewari, along with the instructor Mr. Gurmel will guide students for a healthy start. Further, the first day session started with an address by the Dean (Engineering), Prof. V. Verma where he briefed the students about the B. Tech programme. The crux of his address was the overall growth of the fresh candidates, focusing on personal success while keeping the institution’s vision and mission in the mind. Next, Dr. Sunil K. Wanchoo, through a video presentation showcased how SMVDU has evolved during the course of time. Interestingly, within a very short span of time the university has ranked among top 100 Engineering Institutions by the NIRF 2018, MHRD, Govt. of India, and included in Times World University Ranking List. Dr. Yugal Khajuria, Dean (Students Welfare) briefed students about hostel facilities, and its rules and regulations. In the final session, SMVDU distinguished alumni, Mr. Karan Sapolia, gave a motivational speech on how to grab opportunities and achieve success. Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Associate Dean Academics, presented a vote of thanks to all the speakers.
