A two day online International Conference on “Mathematical Sciences and Computational Intelligence” organized in the memory of Great Mathematician S. Ramanujan concluded at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra today on 22nd December 2020.
This International Conference is organized in association with Advance Research Educational Society (ARES) to celebrate National Mathematics Day which is the birth anniversary of Ramanujan. Many technical sessions were organized in which 17 invited talks and 125 contributory papers were delivered in these two days.
The Co-convener of the conference Dr. Surender Singh coordinated with all participants for smooth conduct of this online conference.
Many researchers from all over the country participated which includes invited talks by Dr. D S Hooda, Dr. Rajinder Sharma (Oman), Dr. Sandeep Poddar (Malaysia), Dr. Vijay Vir Singh (Nigeria), Dr. R. R. Bhargava (IIT, Roorkee), Dr. Shiv Raj Singh (CCSU, Meerut), Dr. Kulwinder Singh Parmar, Dr. Kapil Kumar Bansal, Dr. Ashish, Dr. S. K. Safique Ahmad (IIT, Indore), Dr. Anupam Yadav (NIT, Jalander), Dr. Vishnu Narain Mishra, Dr. Vijay Kumar Bhat, Dr. T. C. Panda, Dr. A. K. Malik.
Various technical sessions were chaired by Prof. Shankar Prasad Kahnal (Nepal), Dr. Vijay Prakash, Dr. A. K. Das, Dr. Kuldeep Raj, Dr. Sandeep Bhougal, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Dr. Sandeep Sharma and faculty members from other schools of SMVDU.
In the valedictory function, Prof. A. K. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences congratulated members of organizing committee for successful conduct of the conference.
The Convener of the conference Dr. Uday Pratap Singh thanked all participants and co-convener Dr. Surender Singh presented a brief report of the conference followed by vote of thanks.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, started off with its Campus Placement Programme-2021 for the students of passing out batch in 2021. Due to the COVIID-19 outbreak the entire campus placement process has been shifted from the physical to virtual mode. Infosys conducted Campus-2021 hiring for SMVDU students, consisting of online tests, online technical and HR interviews.
After a rigorous campus selection process, Infosys declared 15 (12 B. Tech.+ 03 M. Tech.) students selected for the job of System Engineer. Mr. B. K. Bhatia, Placement Officer, informed that some of the other companies tagged for placement of SMVDU students are Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, TA Digital, and ICICI Prudential. Padma Shri, Prof. R.K. Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, congratulated all the Infosys selected candidates for getting the job despite COVID-19 crisis.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University provides quality education & research, and ample employment opportunities to students, and placement always remains the top priority of the Vice Chancellor.
The Constitution of India was partially implemented on 26th Nov. 1949. The Articles 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 60, 324, 366, 367, 379, 380, 388, 391, 392, 393, and 394 of the Constitution came into force on that day, and the remaining articles became effective from 26th January 1950.
The Government of India announced 26th November as the Constitution Day of India in 2015. Since then the day is commemorated and is taken to be an opportunity to collectively engage in creating awareness regarding the constitutional provisions among ourselves.
Two events were organized on 26th Nov. 2020 to mark the celebration at SMVDU:

2. A Students’ Webinar on “The Constitution of India” was organized during 16:00 – 18:00 on 26th Nov. 2020. The inaugural speech was delivered by Prof. Ashok Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Sciences.

Dr. Anil Tewari and Dr. Amitabh Dwivedi from the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and some students including Saguna Gupta (18bec051), Anisha Singh (20mmb012) and Ankush Tickoo (20mmb013) presented their ideas. The presentations were followed by discussion.

Dr. Rakesh K Thusoo, Principal coordinator ICMR-CAR, School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) co-convened and chaired pre-conference workshop of Fertivision 2020, on Decision making in genetics and PGT (Clinical Case Scenarios).
The meeting is being inaugurated by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union minister of Health and Family welfare and guest of honor is Dr. Huge Taylor, President ASRM. Over 50 International faculty, well renowned in the field of Reproductive Medicine and 3000 delegates from across the globe will deliberate at the meeting. Besides the main congress, 10 pre-congress workshops on applied issues in ART were held on 29th November, 2020.
The main discussion in the workshop revolved around the couples at increased risk of having offspring with a specific genetic disorder who want to avoid having an affected child have several reproductive options including prenatal diagnosis (PND) and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT). The PGT influences patients’ lives in both positive and negative ways and is experienced at an individual level, as a family member and as part of the society.
In keeping with the pandemic, this year the 16th Annual conference of Indian Fertility Society, “FERTIVISION 2020”, 4-6th December, 2020, is going virtual. Indian Fertility Society, a leading academic body in the field of Reproductive Medicine in India, and are well recognized for academic activities with regular CME and conferences.
Dr. Rakesh is an alumnus of AIIMS, New Delhi and Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis, USA. He is a leading geneticist of the Jammu and Kashmir who established state of art laboratory facilities at SMVDU. His lab produced five Ph.Ds. and more than twenty international publications in peer-reviewed journals.
