Commemorating International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, the School of Languages and Literature (SOL&L) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), organised a virtual event as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The event started with the welcome address by Dr Isha Malhotra, Head, SoL&L, and convener of the event. She stressed the gravity of the issue that children are being constant victims of abuse and aggression due to wars, forced labour, ongoing pandemic etc.
Prof. V.K. Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, SMVDU, expressed his thoughts on how children are being traumatised and refrained from basic necessities all around the globe.Dr Rakesh Jha, Dean, Research and Development, SMVDU, shared his views on how we should come together in creating a better environment for children to grow peacefully. He also urged students to join VIKALP, an initiative taken by SMVDU to teach underprivileged students.
A large number of students participated and showcased their talent through creative illustrations, poetry recitation, video presentations, and songs. The event was also attended by faculty and staff members and students from various departments. The event was concluded with a formal vote of thanks given by Ms Sakshi Singh, Faculty, SoL&L, and coordinator of the event. She also expressed her gratitude to the Honourable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R.K. Sinha, SMVDU, for providing a platform through ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
