National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University organized an awareness rally under the Poshan Pakhwada as per the directives by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (Govt. of India). The Poshan Pakhwada laid emphasis on two broad areas viz. (i) Identification and celebration of healthy children and (ii) Activities concentrated on the integration of modern and traditional practices on healthy India with the theme of good nutrition and healthy eating.
Around 30 students participated enthusiastically in the event. Students carrying the banner on Poshan Pakhwadaspread their message on nutrition through slogans and disseminated information regarding the inclusion of a healthy diet that increases the amount of iron and other nutrients in our bodies. The students also interacted with the children and discussed the diet they receive in Mid-day meal programs in nearby government schools. The parents were informed about anemia and other acute problems related to malnutrition. The NSS team was led by Shruti and team members included Mayank, Bhuvnesh, and Shivam. The effort was highly appreciated by Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Program Coordinator, NSS SMVD University
