NSS SMVDU in collaboration with district administration Reasi organized a cleanliness Drive under the aegis of Swacch Bharat Mission. The drive was organized to collect mainly plastic wastes alongside the National Highway NH-144. Total 15 teams were deputed by district administration Reasi to clean the Reasi-Katra highway in this drive. The NSS SMVDU team covered a total of 2.5 Km distance during the drive. Around 80 Kg of plastic waste was collected by the volunteers during the drive. The drive lasted for around 02 hours and 30 volunteers participated in the said drive. NSS Programme coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar also participated in the drive. Vice Chancellor, Prof. R. K. Sinha appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers.
One-day workshop on ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity’ under the aegis of National Innovation and Startup Policy (NISP) 2019 was organised by School of Business, SMVD University in which around 70 students from different UG and PG programs participated in this workshop. Dr. Suparn K. Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Management and Chairman of the workshop, discussed the steps to prepare the business plan under current changing business scenario. Dr. Deepak Jain, Coordinator Workshop, presented the future directions and opportunities in different industrial sectors for the start-ups. He also discussed start-up ecosystem and importance to analyse it. Various sessions were conducted, followed by the panel discussion on entrepreneurial opportunities in emerging Indian Economy. Dr. Suparn K. Sharma discussed initiatives of startup India scheme. Dr. Ashutosh Vashishtha, CEO, SMVDU-TBIC, emphasized on the role of incubation centres in fostering innovation and entrepreneurial development. Dr. Rashi Taggar discussed the role of industry-academia interface in promoting entrepreneurship. The budding entrepreneur - Aditya Kanoria from SMVDU, Founder- Befikra community, enlightened the participants about the platform developed by him to empower young generation. The entrepreneur, Mr. Amit Pandotra, inspired participants by sharing his start-up story of Shri Mahadev Food & Beverages and his brands- TankFull and LeharUp of enhancing the valuation from 2.5 lakhs to 30 crores. Research Scholar, Shahbaz Indu moderated the workshop and presented vote of thanks. This workshop was conducted in collaboration and sponsorship from Institution Innovation Cell (IIC), SMVDU.
On 16th January 2023, a special lecture was organized by the School of Philosophy & Culture at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University to celebrate “World Logic Day”, an International Day declared by UNESCO in association with the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences (CIPSH). Shri Sumanta Sarathi Sharma, Head of the School of Philosophy & Culture, welcomed all guests and participants. Prof. B. H. Boruah (Dean of International Relations, IIT Jammu) delivered an intriguing lecture on the topic “On Critical Thinking and Logic.” His talk shed light on the importance of logic and why everyone should study it, in his words, “no one can run away from logic.” He addressed specific questions like the relationship between logic and ontology, logical and analytical truths, and the status of the empty domain and the conceptual truths. Logic is related to other fields of study like physics, mathematics, etc. We cannot think of pure mathematics without logic. He defined logic as a study of certain mathematical properties of certain artificial formal languages, valid inference and certain unique truths or facts. He also explained some of the debatable topics in logic like the debatable.
NSS SMVDU organized a human chain formation of "JAI HIND" on the 165th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose also known as Parakram Diwas. The event started with sharing information on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose by the NSS Programme coordinator Dr. Rajiv Kumar and by the two NSS volunteers, namely Ayush Arya and Sadhvi Sharma. The event was organzied in the university stadium and around 350 students participated in the human chain formation. The event ended with "Vande Matram" and slogans of "Bharat Mata ki Jai". A quiz competition was also organized for students on the Parakram Diwas. The quiz competition was an amicable contest. Students gladly took part in it. The event was conducted successfully by the NSS volunteers. Vice Chancellor Prof. R.K. Sinha appreciated the efforts of team NSS for organizing the event.
