Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta, Faculty, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has delivered an invited talk titled "Digital Transformation with healthy aging and Application of AI" on the occasion of Telecommunication Day celebrated, jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science, Department of Electronics and IETE Society, University of Jammu, Jammu. The talk primarily emphasized the unfolded opportunities that arise due to the increase in the size of older people as this is happening for the first time in the history of human evolution that the number of people aged over 60 years has outnumbered the people aged below five years old. The digital transformation and assistance will largely be levied for healthy aging. Dr. Gupta has covered the role of Artificial Intelligence in developing Apps to secure a healthy lifestyle while aging by monitoring body vitals and availing timely advice of medical practitioners.
aaDr. Baijnath Kaushik, Faculty, School of CSE, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), was invited as a Resource Person in the AICTE sponsored Short Term Training Program (STTP), on Data Science & Big Data at PPG College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India.
During the talk, Dr. Kaushik emphasized “Ensemble Learning Techniques: Random Forest, Gradient Boost and Extreme Gradient Boost Algorithm." He discussed the use of ensemble learning models for solving classification and regression problems, and how models improve the accuracy by minimizing residual errors. The participants, including faculty members and students, appreciated the talk and thanked Dr. Kaushik for sharing his knowledge.
A Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University student, Mr. Harsh Kumar, has been featured in the Apple Hall of Fame for finding critical security vulnerabilities in Apple infrastructure. Previously he has also been featured in the Google Hall of Fame.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta, Faculty, SMVD University, delivered an expert lecture on "Introduction to Optimization Algorithm in Deep Learning" at Faculty Development Program themed “Machine Learning for Internet of Things, Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision,”, organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The speaker addressed the development of the optimization algorithm used for training deep neural networks and their various applications. Dr. Gupta also emphasized revisiting the existing methods to make it useful in the current context.

Recently, the GATE-2022 result were announced and "it was a very overwhelming moment for me and my family as I got AIR 68 in CS stream and that to in my 3rd year itself. I must say that it is pure hard work that has that is paid off. AS of now I am looking forward to further enhance my skills and join my dream institute IIT Bombay and become a good software engineer."

Dr Baijnath Kaushik had delivered his lecture in session - I on the topic “Bias, Variance and Cross-validation”. Dr Kaushik has emphasized the improvisation in Machine Learning algorithms when there is an imbalance in training and test data set. Further, Dr Kaushik has discussed how to choose an effective machine learning algorithm among others using Cross-validation techniques by varying training and test data. Dr Baijnath Kaushik in his session – II talk emphasized “Regularization techniques (Ridge, Lasso & Elastic-net), ROC and AUC Curve”. In this talk, Dr Kaushik had emphasized the use of Regularization techniques such as Ridge Regression, Lasso & Elastic-nets to minimize the number of parameters and minimize the loss of residual errors. Further, Dr Kaushik had also emphasized the use and applications of the ROC & AUC curve in machine learning.
The FDP was attended by almost 150 participants from different colleges of Jammu and other parts of India through online Applications. In the end, the questions were asked and satisfactory answers were given by the speaker Dr Baijnath Kaushik. Mr. Karan Agarwal, currently in my 3rd year of B.Tech CSE at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. Recently, the GATE-2022 result were announced and "it was a very overwhelming and proud moment for me and my family as I got AIR 546 in CS stream. It is just pure hard work that has enabled me witness this day and I will continue it. I must say this is just the beginning and I will appear in GATE next year again to improve my GATE score and get an opportunity to study at my dream IIT."
Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Faculty, School of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra has delivered an invited lecture on “Current Research Opportunities using Imaging Technology” during 5 days AICTE Training & Learning Academy (ATAL) sponsored online Faculty Development Program on “Application of Computers in Biology”.
The FDP was organised by Galgotias University, Greater Noida, in online mode. Dr Gupta has delivered the talk on various research opportunities of biomedical image processing with the participants. Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Faculty, School of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra has chaired a session for 1st International Conference on Robotics, Control and Computer Vision (ICRCCV-2022) during February 19-20, 2022 (virtual mode). The conference was organised by National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand, India in association with Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary (Savaria Institute of Technology).
The conference aims to provide a platform for academicians, individuals working in the industry, as well as students to showcase their research innovations and get recognition. ICRCCV-2022 aspires to bring together a research professional fraternity for the discussions and exchange of information on advances in Robotics, Control and Computer Vision.
Various faculty members, research scholars and students have shared their knowledge on a common platform through the conference. Dr. Gupta thanks to the organizers for giving an opportunity to chair the session.
Dr. Sparsh Sharma, alumnus and research scholar of the School of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, has been selected as Assistant Professor Grade-II, L-10 in the Department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at NIT Srinagar. Dr. Sparsh Shrama has published various research articles in reputed SCI/SCI-E and SCOPUS indexed journals and has received Projects Funding from AICTE and NPIU. Being a Cyber Security Expert and Enthusiast, he has been invited for various Television and Radio interviews. He has delivered more than 20 Invited Lectures on “Cyber Security, Digital Forensics & Ethical Hacking” in various organizations like J&K Police, BSF, Central University of Jammu, University of Jammu, Govt. Polytechnic College, CII, YCET, MIET, etc.

Dr. Gupta talked about “Background and Health Care Application of Artificial Intelligence”. The talk covered the need for interdisciplinary research and the important phases in the evolution of Artificial Intelligence, and encourages the audience to revisit the different algorithms in the context of today’s application. The talk was applauded by the peer researchers and delegates who partickpated across the globe. Dr. Gupta also chaired a technical session at the conference.
