Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Faculty, School of CSE, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was invited as a resource person in AICTE sponsored Short Term Training Program (STTP) on AI and Deep Learning at Modern Institute of Technology (Autonomous) Jammu, Jammu & Kashmir.
The keynote talk was organized to deliberate and discuss the concepts and applications of sentiment analysis on online data using AI and Deep learning paradigms. Dr. Kaushik delivered his talk on the topic, titled “Sentiment Analysis on Social Media”. The FDP was attended by many participants from different colleges of Jammu through online Applications. Er. Pooja Sharma, Faculty, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosphy (Ph.D). She has carried her research work on the topic “Video Streaming Applications requirements and resource provisioning in VANETs” under the supervision of Dr. M L Garg, Former Professor , SMVDU and Dr. Ajay Kaul, Associate Professor , School of Computer Science and Engineering ,Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. Er. Sharma has published several research papers in various indexed journals. She has also participated in many national and international conferences
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Associate Professor in the School of CSE, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, was invited as a Keynote Speaker in the Webinar on “Emerging Areas in Computer Science & Engineering” organized by the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University on 28th May, 2020.
The other invited speakers were Prof. Ashish Ghosh, Head Machine Intelligence Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Prof. Susmita Ghosh, School of Computer Science, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Dr. Haider Banka, Head, Department of CSE, IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad and Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Associate, Professor, SoCSE, SMVDU, Katra. The Webinar was chaired by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Javed Mussarat, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Iqbal Parvez, Coordinators, Dr. Sparsh Sharma and Mr. Faisal Rasheed Lone of Baba Ghulam Shah University.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik has delivered his keynote address on the topic “Applications of Machine Learning and Deep Learning in the Emerging Areas of Computer Science”.
Dr. Kaushik in his address emphasized on applications of Machine Learning and Deep Learning in the different areas of Computer Science. The webinar was attended by more than 70 students and Faculty members of the University.
Mr. Puneet Saraswat (18BCS054) student, School of Computer Science (SoCSE), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, got a mention in Google's Bughunter's Hall of Fame list with worldwide 650th position.
The Google's Hall of Fame makes mention of those security researchers and experts who are part of the Google's Bughunter program, with their help Google is making the internet a safer place for everyone.
Previously, Mr. Saraswat has also been mentioned by Dell's Hall of Fame and other companies too.
With the motto of "Securing Your Digital Presence" Mr. Puneet Saraswat along with Mr. Harsh Kumar (18BCS035) started the company named, XploitFree Security to provide security services and security training.
Ms. Apeksha Koul, MTech Scholar, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, prepared a research paper entitled as , “Semantic Segmentation and Contextual Information based Image Scene Interpretation”, under the guidance of Dr Ajay Koul, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The said paper was presented at International Conference and Computer Technologies (ICICT 2020) which was recently held in San Jose, USA, and now has been published in IEEE Xplore, 2020.
The research paper discussed in detail the use of various methodologies that interprets the image and its context using semantic segmentation and contextual information. The paper also featured commitments, difficulties and various applications of this methodology.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Associate Professor in the School of CSE, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, was invited as a Resource Person in a one week STTP on "Potential and Challenges for Integrating 5G and IoT in Smart City Environment", 17th November, 2020 at Hindustan College of Engineering & Technology (Autonomous Institute), Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
The Short Term Training Program was sponsored by AICTE under the ATAL training and learning scheme. This FDP was organized to deliberate and discuss the concepts and applications of 5G and the Internet of Things.
Other resource persons were invited from NIT Puducherry; Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeeth; Robert Bosch Business Solutions; Altran, United Kingdom and VIT Vellore.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik delivered his lectures on the topic “Internet of Things: Security Issues, Challenges and Applications”. He put his emphasis on “Internet of Things and related models” where he deliberated on the Internet of Vehicles, Wireless Sensor Network, and Wireless Body Area Network.
Further, Dr. Kaushik discussed some security issues in these networks and proposed solutions, such as Remote Health Monitoring Systems, Sensor Web, Fire Monitoring and Alarm System for Coal Mine, Wildfire Detection using Ant Systems and Health Monitoring System using Fuzzy Decision Making Systems.
The STTP was attended by more than fifty participants from different colleges of Coimbatore through Google Meet Applications.
Dr Ajay Koul, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, attended an International Conference on Information and Computer Technologies(ICICT 2020) which was recently held in San Jose USA. Renowned academi-cians from from illinoius state University USA, Heidelberg University Germany, Qatar Universi-ty presented their work through keynote lectures in the conference.
Dr Koul presented a research paper, entitled “Semantic Segmentation And Contextual Infor-mation Based Image Scene Interpretation”. The research paper discussed in detail the poten-tial of using different methodologies in terms of semantic segmentation and contextual infor-mation to interpret the image scenes and highlighted the contribution and challenges which still persist.
The Conference was attended by academicians, researchers, industry and various speakers and delegates from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Germany, India, USA, Jordan and others.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Senior Faculty, School of CSE, SMVD University, was invited as a Resource Person at AICTE sponsored, ATAL FDP on Data Science, 4th November, 2020 at Hindustan College of Engineering & Technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. The FDP was sponsored by the AICTE under the ATAL training and learning scheme. This FDP was organized to deliberate and discuss the concepts and applications of Data Science.
Other resource persons were invited from NIT Trichy, IIIT Kottayam, Karunya University, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Statistical Quality Control Division, Bangalore, Amrita University and VIT Vellore.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik delivered his lectures on the topic “Sentiment Analysis on Social Media”. He focused on “Text Classification techniques used in Sentiment Analysis” where he deliberated on Tokenization, Normalization of tokens using Stemmer and Lemmatization techniques.
Further, Dr. Kaushik discussed the types of Word Vectorization techniques including, Bag of Words, One-hot encoding, Word Embedding and some practical applications of Sentiment Analysis using Machine and Deep Learning Algorithms on Social Media Dataset.
The FDP was attended by 130 participants from different colleges of Coimbatore through Cisco Web Applications.
1. Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science & Engineering, SMVDU has received grant of his patent titled as “Method for automatic detection of anatomical landmarks in volumetric data”. The patent was granted by USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) on June 11, 2019 and publication number was given as US 10,318,839 B2. This invention is the evolution of an algorithm to perform a dental analysis named as Cephalometric analysis automatically on three-dimensional images for diagnosis and treatment planning of the patients.
2. Dr. Abhishek Gupta also has received a grant of 10 Lakhs INR as project investigator from UGC (University Grants Commission) for executing a research project titled as “Automatic monitoring of plants based on leaf segmentation” in 2018 for 2 years.
Ms. Malvika Ashok, Ph.D. student, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, published a research paper entitled “A systematic review of the techniques for the automatic segmentation of organs-at-risk in thoracic computed tomography images”, in SCIE indexed journal “Archives of Computational Methods in Engineering” with Impact Factor 6.7 and Cite Score 11.7. It is pertinent to mentioned that she is pursuing her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science & Engineering, SMVDU.
Mr. Sparsh Sharma has been declared qualified for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science and Engineering by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra. He worked on the topic “Enhancing Security and Utilization of Resources in VANETs and VANET Cloud Environment” under the supervision of Dr. Ajay Kaul, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVDU, Katra. Mr. Sparsh has published various research articles in reputed SCI/SCI-E and SCOPUS indexed journals. Presently, he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri and has received Projects Fundings from AICTE and NPIU. Being a Cyber Security Expert and Enthusiast, he has been invited for various Television and Radio interviews and has delivered more that 20 Invited Lectures on “Cyber Security, Digital Forensics & Ethical Hacking” in various organizations like J&K Police, BSF, Indian Army, Central University of Jammu, University of Jammu, Govt. Polytechnic College, CII, YCET, MIET, etc.
Ms. Reya Sharma, Ph.D. student, School of Computer Science and Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, published a research paper entitled “Offline recognition of handwritten Indic scripts: A state-of-the-art survey and future perspectives”, in SCIE indexed journal “Computer Science Review” with Impact Factor 7.707 and Cite Score 14.7. It is pertinent to mentioned that she is pursuing her Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Associate Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering, SMVDU.
SMVDU Katra, April 2019. The School of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra (J&K), organized an industrial visit to Wipro Technologies, Greater Noida, for its students with an aim to harness the power of cognitive computing, hyper-automation, robotics, cloud, analytics and emerging technologies. The visit was coordinated by Mr. BK Bhatia, T&P Officer, SMVDU, and Ms. Pooja Sharma and Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Faculty Members, SoCSE, SMVDU. The visit started with a brief profile of the company provided by Ms. Bhavna, HR, Wipro-she discussed the recruitment procedures, various facility centers and departments. Mr. Shardul Singhal, General Manager, Wipro Technologies, explained the career opportunities at Wipro. The trip was very informative, enriching and provided a great learning experience for the students. It gave students an exposure to the multinational company’s environment, its production, processing, management, human resource development and environment concerns. SMVDU students learned the quality standards and practices, and got a holistic view of the company’s processes and strategies.
Miss Yusera Khan, Ph. D. student & the supervisor, Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, got the Best Paper Award from the International Conference on Machine Intelligence & Data Science Applications (MIDAS-2020), held at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun, India. The title of the paper was: "Neuro-image classification using machine learning algorithm for the classification and prediction of Alzheimer’s disease".
Shikha Magotra, Research Scholar, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno devi university, has attended an International conference on Recent Innovation in Computing (ICRIC-2018), Central University of Jammu, J&K.
During the conference, Shikha Magotra presented a paper titled "Impact of HELLO flood attack on heirarchical routing protocols in WSN" coauthored by Dr Naveen Kumar Gondhi, Assistant Professor, DoCse, SMVDU. The research paper focused on the influence of HELLO flood attack incurs on heirarchical routing protocols (LEACH in our case) in Wireless Sensor Networks in terms of %age packet delivery ratio of packets in the network. She also interacted with eminent Academicians, Research Scholars, Scientist and sharing the latest advancements in the field of computing with the participants across the globe.
Dr. Baijnath Kaushik, Associate Professor in the School of CSE has successfully completed NPTEL course on Fuzzy Systems & Applications” during Jan- June, 2020. Dr. Baijnath Kaushik has been awarded the completion certificate with 93% passing marks.
