Ms. Amina Khan has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the School of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, Jammu and Kashmir. Her research work focused on "Optimized Self-Configurable UAV-Assisted Network for Disaster Recovery and Management" and was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Sumeet Gupta, Associate Professor, and co-supervision of Dr. Sachin Kumar Gupta, Assistant Professor, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering.During her PhD program, Ms. Khan published four SCI/SCIE peer-reviewed international journal articles, one SCOPUS journal article, and one book chapter with a reputable publishing house. She also presented several papers at international and national conferences. Dr Amit Kant Pandit, Faculty, SoECE, SMVDU chaired an online session in 6th International Conference on Green Computing and Engineering Technologies (ICGCET®) today.
The international conference is scheduled from 16th-18th September 2020 at Herzen State Pedagogical University, St Petersburg, Russia. The traditional face-to-face meeting was replaced by the online meeting due to a pandemic situation.The first online session was conducted through CISCO Webex app.
Dr. Pandit along with co-chair Dr. Bishwajeet Pandey, Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal Uttarakhand, and associated with Gyancity Research consultancy conducted the first session and an introductory talk.
The attendees across the world presented their work through an online meeting and recorded video presentations. The presentation and other videos are uploaded for public viewing on youtube channel for wider academic sharing.

Ms. Garima Chopra successfully defended her doctoral research, titled "Development of Algorithm to Overcome Security Threats in 5G Wireless Communication for Ultra-Dense Network" while working on “Security issues of Ultra-dense network for high-speed users”, in a Ph.D. External Viva, conducted on 21st May 2020, following the latest guidelines set by the UGC.

SMVDU Katra, December 2019. Mr. Shubham Mahajan, PhD Research Scholar, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), attended the IEEE RAS HACKATHON in Dhaka- Bangladesh The event was funded by the IEEE Student travel grant where the student and his team Insurgent, comprising two students of Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh, proposed the model of Next Generation Drones & Radio based Disaster Management on topic “Real Life Implementation of Robotics and Automation in Disaster Management”, which was awarded as 2nd Runner up. Previously, the candidate successfully attended the IEEE Signal Processing Winter School on MSP, IEEE RAS HACKATHON, and International Conference on Signal Processing, Information, Communication and Systems (SPICSCON 2019) from 28th November– 1st December 2019 at Dhaka- Bangladesh.

Dr Sachin Kumar Gupta, Faculty, School of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMDU), Katra has delivered an invited talk on “Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Assisted Network and its Security Issues & Challenges” in a Faculty Development Program on “Intelligent Computing and Communications” organized by Banasthali Vidyapith, Rajasthan, supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India under the scheme Consolidation of University Research for Innovation and Excellence in Women (CURIE) during March 21-26, 2022. The talk was on UAV: Fundamental, Communication Models, Applications, and Future Perspective along with Security Threats and Its Counter measurements on UAV assisted ground network. The participants in the program were faculty members from different organizations in India.

Suhaib Ahmed Batt S/o Sh. Wali Mohd Batt and Smt. Nagina Begum, R/o Kishtwar, J&K, has been declared qualified for the award of the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. He worked on the topic “A Configurable Ultra Low Power Data Converter for Cardiac and Neural Implants,” under the supervision of Dr. Vipan Kakkar, Associate Professor, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra. During his Ph.D., he qualified both UGC-NET and JKSET and published more than 30 research articles in reputed SCI/SCI-E, SCOPUS indexed international journals and conferences. For his research contriubution, he was recently felicitated with Young Scientist Award at New Delhi.
Ms. Soha Maqbool Bhat, M.Tech Research Scholar, working under the supervision of Dr Vipan Kakkar, Associate Professor, School of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University attended the 4th International Conference on "Recent Innovations in Computing (ICRIC)" organized by Central University, Jammu, in collaboration with Knowledge University, Erbil, Eotvos Lorand University and WSG University, Bydgoszcz, Poland from 8-9 June 2021 via virtual mode.
The theme of the Conference was: various innovation paradigms in system knowledge, intelligence and computing that may be applied to provide a realistic solution to varied problems in society, environment and industries.During the Conference, Ms Soha Maqbool Bhat presented a research paper, entitled “Quantum-dot Cellular Automata-based Design of 4x4 TKG Gate and Multiplier with Energy Dissipation Analysis”. The paper will be published in Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering (LNEE, Springer) with Scopus, DBLP, and other popular databases.
SMVDU Katra, May 2019. School of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, organised an industrial visit to Semi-Conductor Laboratory, Chandigarh, Department of Space, Government of India for its M. Tech. Students to focus on design, development, fabrication, assembly & packaging, testing and quality assurance of CMOS and MEMS devices for satellite and other various applications. This industrial visit was coordinated by Dr. Sachin Kumar Gupta, Faculty, SoECE & Ms. Shaivya Manhas, Faculty, SoEM, along with Mr. B. K. Bhatia, T&P Officer, SMVDU. The visit started with the brief profile of SCL by Mr. Sanjay Bhatnagar, Engineer' SF'-PPMD at Semi-Conductor Laboratory. He presented a short video clip pertaining to major contributions, achievements, and campus life of SCL. Later, he discussed the design process for fabrication of ICs, Mixed Signal and Analog ASIC Design, and Wide spectrum industry standard EDA tools. The students were taken to various labs which includes 8" Wafer Fabrication Facility (Clean Rooms of Class 1, 10, 100 and 1000 with controlled environmental conditions), Assembly & Packaging (Fine Pitch Bonding capability for pad size of 57µmx57µm and 65µm pitch, Low Temperature Process for packaging large dies, Multi-Chip Packaging Process for ASICs and sensor devices, MIC Packaging), Reliability & Quality Assurance (Facility for Environmental Test, Facility for Failure Analysis), etc. The industrial tour was very informative, enriching, and imparted a great learning experience to the students.
